A rural cottage garden with a wild flower meadow

The garden, surrounded by fields, is roughly three quarters of an acre in size. It is arranged in a series of managed areas each different yet all in sympathy with the spirit of a cottage garden as well as well as having a strong emphasis on conservation. The garden moves from formal to natural blending into the surrounding countryside. Areas include herb and vegetable gardens, herbaceous and meadow borders, a white garden, a wild flower meadow, a thyme terrace, a knot garden and a woodland garden  Some of the areas are quite small like the knot, white and woodland gardens whilst the wildflower meadow is much larger, the size of a double tennis court. The garden is enclosed by hedges consisting of hawthorn, holly, guelder rose and honeysuckle and by dry stone walls both of which attract wildlife. The following pages and gallerys look at the areas in a little more detail. We hope you enjoy your visit.
